The Rug Project was born from a simple belief — that handmade art should be accessible, fun, and part of everyday life.
Crafted with Passion, Tufted with Love
The Rug Project (TRP) started in 2024 when our founder Riya Kapoor wanted to combine her love for anime, gaming, and traditional Indian craftsmanship into something tangible and beautiful.
What began as a small tufting studio in her apartment quickly grew into a passionate team of artisans dedicated to creating handmade rugs that tell stories — from Naruto to Ghibli, from pastel aesthetics to bold geometric patterns.
Today, TRP ships handmade hand-tufted rugs across all of India, bringing joy to gaming setups, bedrooms, living rooms, and kids' spaces. Every rug is made with premium New Zealand wool and crafted by hand — no two pieces are exactly alike.
